POSITION:

       Human Services Worker – Washington

QUALIFICATIONS:

 
 

  1. A bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, human services or other related field such as counseling or education. Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Knowledge of methods and techniques of intervention, and treatment of serious emotional disturbance.
  3. At least one (1) year of experience with a human service organization or student placement.
  4. Evidence of a strong commitment to parent, staff and community involvement in decision-making process.
  5. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills.
  7. Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.

REPORTS TO:

Reports directly to Director –Career/Alternative Education

JOB GOAL:

To work collaboratively with the Division of Children and Family Services and Little Rock School District to improve student’s educational achievement by ensuring that the health and social needs of all students are met.  Identified schools will serve as the focal point for the delivery of community social services and educational programs for families.

BASIC PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides student services to include: crisis intervention, family/student counseling, home visits, transportation for family/student, group counseling, individualized coping/conflict skills, and/or school conference and in-service training.
  2. Offers on-going support and guidance to individual students and families through one-on-one contacts, and crisis intervention.
  3. Provides in-service training to school staff on child protection issues.
  4. Serves as a student advocate within the school district, courts and other agencies or service providers.
  5. Coordinates activities and makes appropriate requests/referrals to school staff, DCFS staff and community agencies addressing the needs of students and families to insure that appropriate and needed services are provided.
  6. Provides educational seminars/meetings for parents and/or community support groups for parents, teens, etc.
  7. Develops an evaluation process to determine outcomes identified buy DCFS.
  8. Develops and implements individual family service plans.
  9. Prepares a monthly monitoring and case management report as required to Arkansas Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
  10. Offers on-going support and guidance to individual students and families through one-on-one contacts, and crisis intervention.
  11. Participates in regular staffing to review cases and revise service plans as needed.
  12. Secures intake information, (e.g. social, medical, educational history) and completes and maintains records.
  13. Delivers scheduled services, while responding to emergencies/unplanned events, with appropriate prioritization and referrals.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY AND TERMS:

Pay 06 – Grade 31 – $15,840 – $27,924  a ten (9.25) month 192 day contract, plus benefit package.  Precise placement on the salary range will be determined by experience.

Note:  This position is only for 2010-11 school year. Contingent upon grant funding.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
